Episode 1: Instagram Business Page From Scratch as A Blogger What I Learned Day One
So if you’re anything like me you may have found yourself in a dilemma regarding whether or not you should have a personal Instagram page, create a business Instagram page, or keep both.
So you may be shocked to know but I officially started my business Instagram page on 1/19/24 can you say yayyy! Before having an Instagram business page I had a personal page where I would post from time to time about random things happening in my day, which included some recipes, random quotes, fun moments ext.
I rarely added hashtags, but when I did I did not research them.
I never added niche-related reels or any promotional items about my upcoming products.
But I did spend a lot of time on that page scrolling and engaging with random people’s content.
Though I had “who I was” and “how I helped others” in my bio and a link to my website there was no sharing business tips, no marketing or direct promoting happening on that page what soever.
I had products I wanted to promote on Instagram, but the thought of promoting them on my personal Instagram page felt like mental gymnastics.
I liked the people who were following me, which weren’t that many, but discussing business with them hmmm I was not a fan.
After all, most of them were following me because they were family, friends and or simply because they liked me as a person, but did not necessarily have interest in my business. In other words they were not my target audience.
So I finally decided to keep the content on my personal account up to keep record of how I began my Instagram journey. However, I removed my login information to my Personal Instagram account from my phone to avoid logging in & I created a brand new Instagram account solely for business.
And although I only have ten followers as of today 1/19/24 I feel I can finally create the actual content I want to create for my ideal audience and business, and that alone made me feel a lot better about starting my Instagram journey in a serious way.
There are other content creators that decided to switch over their personal page to their business page and are doing well. There are also some who have actively engage on both. It really all comes down to personal preferenace.
However, two things I would take into consideration is time and energy.
If you find yourself battling between which page to post and engage on you may consider deleting and or disengaging with your personal page.
So that all your focus, time and energy on Instagram is given to growing your business and cultivating new relationships with your potential customers instead.
So, here’s what I’ve learned my first day setting up my Instagram Business Page:
For day one, I focused on getting my account setup & there are a few things that I learned and was able to implement.
First thing I learned was how to create a more effective Instagram Bio.
Here is how my first Instagram bio looked on my Personal Instagram Account Vs. My New Business Account
Though I stated what I did on my personal Instagram account and included my websites link there was no direct business & or marketing happening aside from having those in my bio & I had the page on private which of course is a nono for business owners on Instagram.
So keeping “Geniune soul and foodie” in my Instagram bio was a must because aside from blogging that’s the nature of my brand overall.

In Conclusion, I’m super excited to be starting my Instagram for business journey from scratch I believe being a blogger is going to make my Instagram for business journey easier. As I implement Instagram strategies for my blogging business I’ll be sharing all the juicy info with my BFA family.
