Should you start a blog in 2024? The straightforward answer for 98% of entrepreneurs is a definite YES.
However, should your blogging strategy be the same strategy bloggers used 5-10 years ago? Well, not exactly.
With all the changes happening with the algorithms and AI, I recommend business owners utilize those changes to their benefit by adding a bit of a twist to their blogging strategy, which I’ll cover later in this blog post.
But before diving deeper into strategy, let’s talk about what blogging is.
Blogging is another form of content creation published on a website designed to help build rapport, answer questions, and sell more products and services to your target audience.
It’s one of the best content strategies to utilize on Google.
It’s a GREAT strategy to capture a large portion of your audience that prefer text or web-based content that your competitors may be not be catering to.
In fact, according to luisazhou.com, 70% of consumers prefer blog posts over ads.
Ledgeview Partners states – “Unsurprisingly, a majority of consumers say they would rather learn about a company by reading a blog post than watching or reading an advertisement.
Also, according to Demand Gen Report – “When asked, 60% of consumers said that they consider blog posts to be valuable when they’re in the early stages of the buying journey”
So, is blogging powerful? Absolutely. Blogging is more important and relevant now than ever!
In this blog post, I’ll cover 21 reasons you should start a blog for business
1. Maximize AI With Your Original Content (not for the reasons you think)
Blogging is a great way to maximize AI utilizing your original content.
No matter how great AI becomes, customers will always prefer to interact and buy from someone they know, like, and trust, especially when discussing selling via content creation.
Content creation with an actual person is powerful, and there’s no way utilizing AI software can create content that builds rapport and trust better than a content creator would.
Showing the person behind the blog can give you the edge over businesses relying 100% on AI software.
As someone who utilizes AI tools for blogging, being an effective blogger takes much more than copying and pasting content from AI software.
Also, two things concern me with AI that I’m paying close attention to.
One of those things is the potential content plagiarism some bloggers who utilize AI tools to write significant portions of their content may face down the line.
The second thing is the robotic tone of the AI writings. Every business should have a unique brand tone. By utilizing AI to create 100% of your content and large portions, you lose that uniqueness in your brand’s tone, which helps establish brand awareness through consistency. Your brand’s voice and tone is a crucial element of your branding.
But if you’re utilizing AI to develop all your writing, how are you differentiating yourself from competitors?
For example imagine if Nike had the same brand voice as one another? The customer would have trouble defrientiating the benefit of each brand from one another. Which of course would affect overall sales.
For these two reasons, unique content created by actual people will always beat out solely depending on AI.
However, you can utilize AI tools to your benefit as a blogger.
AI blogging tools can help with productivity, editing, proofreading, content research and more, which is fantastic!
2. You Own It.
As great as Tiktok, Instagram, Facebook, etc. may be, the truth is you don’t own those platforms, and at any moment, the algorithms can change, the platforms can discontinue, you can be shadow banned, etc., and just like that, all your hard work, and content can be limited and or gone.
We’ve all heared of the horror stories of businesses and influencers being kicked off platforms and or shadowed banned for utilzing banned hashtags, implementing marketing strategies the social media platform deems spammy ext.
However, you own your website 100% and control your content. Having complete control of your business’s primary content strategy is essential.
3. Credibility.
Creating engaging blog posts that educate your audience to help them solve their problems and achieve the goals of keeping them up at night builds rapport and expert positioning, which is essential to have during the buying process.
Force manager looked into a study on how blogging influences buying decisions and found exciting data which showed:
4. Add Legs to Your Content.
What I love about blogging is that if you post your content the right way your content can work hard for you without you ever having to touch it again. Here are a few ways you can have your blog post work hard for you.
5. Outsmart Your Competition.
If you’re in an industry where blogging is unpopular, adding a blog to your business strategy could give you a competitive edge. Even if your direct competitors utilize a blogging strategy, they may not use it correctly. Also, there may be few businesses blogging in your niche within your state or local region, and this could also give you a competitive edge and allow you to dominate competitors in your local area and obtain those customers your competition is not finding and or effectively targeting.
6. Increase Your Ability to Obtain B2B sales:
So, B2B sales involve one business selling goods and/or services to another business, as opposed to selling them directly to end consumers.
According to https://www.demandsage.com 74% of B2B buyers conduct more than half of their business research online before purchasing. Hence, publishing helpful content on your blog will help educate your buyer and position you as a go-to brand. Further, your potential client will see you as a trusted source and value your expertise throughout the sales process, increasing your credibility”.
7. Search Engines Have An 8 Times Higher Close Rate.
Investing time, effort, and resources into improving your search engine presence can lead to a whopping eight times higher close rate. That’s right, you read it correctly! Search engines, like Google, Yahoo, and Bing, can be the secret weapon in your business growth arsenal.
According to Search Engine Journal, SEO leads have a 14.6% close rate, compared to a mere 1.7% close rate from traditional outbound methods such as cold-calling or direct mail.
As a business owner, you constantly seek ways to boost your bottom line.
This stat means that by focusing on your online visibility and optimizing your website for search engines, you can significantly increase your chances of converting a visitor into a paying customer.
The higher your website ranks in search engine results, the higher the likelihood of attracting quality leads, leading to a higher close rate.
The benefits continue beyond there. By harnessing the power of SEO, you will attract more traffic and build credibility, enhance user experience, and increase your conversion rates.

8. Maximize Pinterest.
Pinterest is a social search engine powered by photos more than text. Aside from the Pin description information, little socializing is happening on Pinterest. Still, it’s a fantastic traffic source for bloggers. Pinterest is a great traffic source for brand-new bloggers. When implementing the correct strategies, you can become what Pinterest considers a “Power Pinner” and begin getting traffic immediately.
Here are some great Pinterest Blogging stats to consider:
9. Better ROI.
If you are on a budget and want the best return on your investment, blogging is hands down the best strategy for advertising. Unlike TV and radio ads that cost 100-1000 dollars to produce, you can spend anywhere from $15-25 a month blogging. Not to mention with blogging you complete multiple things done at once vs just utilizing advertisment.
Ads are created for brand awareness, to sale products and or utilized for to utilize for list building strategies. But blogging can do all of those things and so much more. Not to mention a blog lifespan is forever unlike an ads which expire once the campaign is completed.
In fact, according to Fundera, businesses that blog for business are 13 times more likely to achieve a positive ROI for their efforts than those that do not.
Also, blogs increase the chance of ranking on Google by over 400%, which is not shocking considering that if you create more content, Google will favor your blog above static websites and capture pages.
10. Maximize The Marketing Rule 7.
Marketing Rule 7 states – that the average person needs to “hear” the advertiser’s message at least 7x before making a buying decision. Adding a blog to your website gives your target audience a reason to return for more. Unlike a static website or a capture page that pretty much stays the same, which typically is filled with requests like “Buy Now,” “Call Us Today,” etc., having a call to action on your website is perfect.
However, imagine creating content with valuable information around the call to action on your website.
Imagine creating content that helps solve their problems and or helps them reach their goals.
Adding value before asking for the sale can make the sales process much easier and give your business a competitive edge. It also gives your audience a reason to return to your website for more.
You can also add a compelling opt-in offer and cookies to your site to later reintroduce your product and service to your website viewers.
We’ll discuss both of these a bit further in this blog post.
11. Utilize Retargeting Ads.
Most people who visit your website for the first time will not purchase their first visit on your website; in fact,92% of first-time website visitors will not make a purchase. So adding a retargeting pixel to your website will allow you to deliver ads instantly that reflect specific pages and or products they browsed on your website.
When retargeting is effective, it can be a powerful way to reintroduce your product to your audience, maximizing the marketing 7 rule.
Here are some essential retargeting statistics to consider:
12. Lead Generation.
Having a blog is hands down one of the easiest and most cost-effective strategies for any business to build their email list quickly. Not shocking, considering having a blog will allow you to add more opt-in offers on your website because you have consistent content.
One of the most popular lead generation ways is via opt-in boxes, which offer your blog readers something in exchange for their information. Here are a few examples you can add opt-in boxes to generate leads with your blog:
13. Affiliate Marketing.
Everyone who follows your blog will not purchase your products and services; however, if they follow your blog, they are more than likely interested in the content you are covering.
Another way to make income with your blog is by utilizing affiliate products.
Affiliate products are like soft sales, meaning you can share your affiliate links throughout your blog post as recommended buys to your audience. The key is to share relevant products pertaining to the content you cover.
14. Build Your Own Culture.
Online social platforms like Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc., are fantastic for many reasons; however, they could be quieter, and keeping your audience’s attention on your content can be a hassle. But on your blog, it’s much easier for the viewer to focus on your text, images, video, and or podcast without you competing for that time.
The goal is to make your website an excellent place for your target audience to hang out. You can do this by adding interactive content to your blog post; this can be in video, podcast, Giphy photos, and excellent photography format.
Another great touch would be to sprinkle more of who you are or what you business is about throughout your content in small quantities to give your readers a personal look into your life or a behind the scenes look into your business.
You can implement this by sharing a life update, learning lessons, things you are currently enjoying, a fantastic vacation, sharing your pet, ext. Of course, what you share and how it will all depend on your brand tone and audience. For example, it could be a better route if you have a more severe brand tone with a corporal audience, sharing a company event, charity work, company quarterly highlights, etc.
15. Test Everything.
One of the great things about a blog is that you can test any of your product ideas or email marketing headlines before you officially put them out there.
For instance, if you want to know if a product will work or not, if you have a big enough blog presence, you can put the topic ideas in a blog post and see how your audience reacts to the topics.
16. The Power of Repurposing.
One of the biggest benefits of blogging is you can repurpose your blog content for other platforms. For instance, you can change your blog post into a Youtube video, podcast topic, email marketing topic and share it in the form of mini captions and or photos on any social media platform.
17. Host your different content on your blog.
One of the biggest misconceptions about blogging is you have to love writing to have a blog.
But this is not true.
That statement is not true and, to be frank, an outdated viewpoint of what blogging is.
Whether you enjoy writing or not, you can still effectively utilize blogging; however, you must be strategic. Instead of using lots of text, you can replace your text with video, podcast, or images.
Also, you only need a little text for some blog posts; the amount of text you need on your blog post depends on the purpose of your blog post and the overall results you want to achieve.
Will you need to add text to your blog post to be successful? YES! But do you need to have long-form text to be a successful blogger? No.
Can longer, word text help your blog traffic and SEO ranking? YES.
But this is all depending on the purpose of your blog post.
For instance, a press release blog post would contain about 400-700 words, different from how-to educational content, ranging from 1,500 to 2,500 words.
Below are the suggested blog post length based on the blog post type and format 🎉
Overall the perfect blogging strategy would be to implement short and long term content when possible because every topic your audience search for is not going to call for a 1000+ word count blog post.
So the best strategy is going to change depended on the purpose of your blog post and the goals you are wanting to accomplish.
18. Lasting Content.
Your blog can be a powerful tool to drive perpetual traffic to your company’s website, each article you post can live on indefinitely, consistently attracting more visitors from search engines.
The key is optimizing your blog posts for SEO, using relevant keywords and providing valuable, timeless content. This not only improves your ranking but also helps establish your brand as a go-to resource.
Blogs, unlike social media posts, have a much longer lifespan. Their evergreen nature makes them a cost-effective, long-term strategy for boosting online visibility and brand recognition.
So, when crafting evergreen blog posts, you want to keep them fresh and relevant by limiting date-specific mentions. Why? Google and readers may consider your content outdated post that date.
If you do utilize a date on a post I wouldn’t add it as the post url link and or title but you can add it to a temporary Pinterest image and or in the blog post it’self and once the date expired you can go back to update the blog post images and text to only include general dates and or a current date.
19. Mental Health Benefits.
By providing a creative outlet for your emotions, blogging can reduce stress, enhance mood, and increase feelings of well-being. It’s a therapeutic process, a form of self-care that anyone can practice.
According to a study published in Scientific American, blogging can have similar effects to meditation.
20. Enough content to write a book or create a course.
Once you have a good amount of blog posts, you can quickly turn those blog post topics into a book format. The benefits of blogging are you will already have a ton of research and understanding of your topic and target audience, you will have current and new readers for your blog, and you will have a ton of blog post content you can turn into chapters for your book. So, if you want to become an author, starting a blog is a great way to get started. You can also utilize your blog content and categories to create a course.
21. Continual Learning.
Last but certainly not least, one of my favorite things about blogging is that it’s an active, engaging way to keep up with trends, audience needs, and the latest developments. It’s similar to reading a daily newspaper but with a personal touch!
Now, contrast that with the more passive consumption of information. You’re not just absorbing data; you’re actively seeking it out, analyzing it, and presenting it in an accessible format. That’s the magic of blogging!
So, blogging and passive information consumption can both keep you informed. But blogging also sharpens your research skills, hones your writing, and strengthens your connection with your audience. In essence, it’s active knowledge acquisition versus passive intake.
Having a blog for business is powerful, but blogging is about more than just boosting business.
It’s also about creating a supportive, informed community. It’s about being a voice that makes a difference! Because your voice, expertise, and knowledge are important too.
Someone out there is waiting to hear what you have to say.
