8 Secrets to Increase Your Blog Authority For Beginner Bloggers 🥂
You want to create a blog; however, you also want your blog to be taken seriously.
But how do you create a blog that is taken seriously, and what does being taken seriously as a blogger actually mean for you?
Well it all starts with building blog authority.
But what is blog authority?
Blog authority represents your blog’s status as a credible and reliable source in your niche. It impacts your blog’s success, influencing both ranking on search engines and the reader’s trust.
As mysterious as it may sound, it’s actually not as mystifying as you may think It involves several clear components that, when combined, create a powerful blogging business and overall presence online.
In this blog post, we will be diving deeper into the several factors that you can implement to influence and enhance the authority of your blog.
So let’s dive in…
1. Creating Your Brand’s Visual Appeal.
So you may be shocked to know that the first step to being taken seriously as a blogger is to start with the website design and aesthetics of your website.
Yes, I know we were taught in life that looks do not matter, but when it comes to blogging, the truth is, to a large degree, it does. The first way to be taken seriously as a blogger within your niche is to have a website that grabs your audience’s attention so that they are inspired to continue engaging with your blog.
With blogging, it’s all about creating a first impression, and how to do that is with an awesome website design.
Now, this does not mean you need to get a custom website or that you even need to hire a website designer; however, it does mean that your website should be functional, easy to navigate, and aesthetically appealing to your audience.
Here are a few design tips that you can implement for your blog to make sure it pops.
2. Identifying your tribe.
Next, you want to choose your target audience. Choosing your target audience is crucial to creating a profitable blogging business because it will help you create content that is designed specially for them.
Once you know who your target audience is, you can create content that helps them solve their problems and reach their goals, which is important when building rapport and expertise within your niche.
Yes. Can you choose to blog within a general niche? Of course, but this is not recommended or ideal. In order to get to your blogging goals as quickly as possible, you want to make sure your messaging is as specific as possible and created to reach a specific group of people.
For instance. Having a blog that helps owners understand their pets is totally different from having a blog designed to help with auto mechanics.
Trying to create a blog that targets both topics and audiences is just not ideal because it causes market confusion and will take a much longer time to resonate, maybe even 7-10 years, and to be honest, it’s not the route to go.
When choosing a specific niche, building rapport with your audience can take 6 months to a year to start with. Of course, this varies based on a few other factors, but a large factor is getting specific on your audience and the topics you want to discuss on your blog.
Which leads me to the next point.
3. Creating content that positions you as the go-to expert.
You can easily accomplish this by creating content your audience is looking for—creating content that solves their problems, inspires, and entertains.
Entertainment, by the way, can vary; you don’t have to be doing tiktok dances to be entertaining; Providing informative, upbeat content that they are looking for can do the trick, or providing content that inspires and provides comfort is also a great way to entertain.
Entertainment simply means engaging in activities or, in this case, consuming content that you enjoy.
Which can range from home decor, sports, news, animal planet, and the list goes on and on.
For example, think about the different types of TV shows that can provide a sense of entertainment/dopamine rush, which can give an overall sense of happiness.
4. Consistency.
Next, you want to be consistent with creating content on your website. The fastest way to build trust with your audience is for them to see your content often. With blogging, you don’t have to create a blog post a day, but creating a blog post no less than once per week is ideal.
Creating consistent blog content will not only help build trust with your audience, but it will also help with your Google SEO.
5. Writing format.
When writing your blog post, you want to implement great writing formats, which will help increase the readability of your blog post and keep your audience’s attention.
You can do this by adding a few things to your blog post.
– Create no more than 4 line sentences, then create a space and continue.
– Mix your sentence lengths between 1-4 lines.
– Add bullet points to your content when necessary.
– Include bold and initalic fonts to emphasize your points even further.
– Add other relevant links from your other blog post to your content.
– Add outside links to your content.
Try to not overwhelm with your links, adding 3-5 links to every 1000 word count.
6. Internal linking
Adding internal links back to your blog from other great blog posts is not only a great way to keep great website retention; it also increases your blog authority with search engines and your audience over time.
7. Build community
Another great way to increase your blog authority within your niche is to utilize blogging as your cornerstone content and then repurpose that same content into other formats like videos, text, images, reels, etc. onto other platforms for community and networking opportunities.
Another method you can utilize to build community blogging is to add other smaller, midsize or even larger bloggers content to your blog and notify them of the addition via email or Twitter This can also help build your networking opportunities overtime.
Letting another blogger know that you saw and enjoyed their input on a topic enough to add their link to your own blog post can create great networking opportunities overtime.
Guest posting is another great route to go to increase your brand’s authority, expand your reach, and your SEO benefits.
8. Adding your policies to your blog.
Lastly, you want to be sure to add policies and procedures to your blog, this will act as a legal shield for your content and business, and it shows your visitors that you are serious about protecting their overall experience with your website and products.
You don’t have to have a law degree, by the way, to add legal pages and disclaimers to your website. In fact, in my blog post: 5 Basic Legal Pages Your Blog Should Have before Publishing, I dive deeper into the topic. Also quick Disclosure: I am not a lawyer. I’m simply sharing my opinion and the legal pages I am currently using for my own blog. For more information on legal advice, feel free to refer to my full legal disclaimer here.
In conclusion, becoming the go to expert within your niche does not have to be long drawn out and complicated. However, it takes consistency and strategy, and you got this!
