Website Content Explained: Why Content Matters Big Time!
Okay, so you’ve decided your business needs a website (smart move 🙌🏽). But now you’re asking, why is content important for your website? Great question — and one many business owners wonder.
So here’s the tea.
Website content it’s important for many reasons.
Some of those reasons I cover in other posts, but in this one, we’re going to break it down into four specific FAQs so you’ve got the clarity you need to take it all the way.
But first love bug lets start here:
What is website content?
So, contrary to what some may believe, website content is not just text. Though I personally LOVE writing, a content-driven website can vary and it ultimately comes down to a few things:
So website content can be anything from text, photos, video, audio — or a combination of each.
Google loves multimedia blogs, so if your thing is videos or podcasts, that can work too.
Though some text will still be necessary for best results, the bulk of your content doesn’t have to be.
The most important thing?
Choose the content style you genuinely enjoy creating — the kind you feel will serve your specific audience best.

Why is website content important?
Website content is important because it gives you full control of your brands experience without needing to rely on ads or social media tactics.
On your website, you’re able to create the perfect vibe and atmosphere for your audience — without distractions from algorithms or distracting posts.
Every piece of content you add also gives you the ability to be discovered in search engines like Google and friend that’s big!
This means more of your target audience are seeing your business and what you have to offer, along with more visibility, sales, and email sign-ups.
Essentially, you’re able to knock out multiple things with one powerful stone and heres the key 👉🏽 that you own.
How often should you update your website content?
When it comes to how often you should update your website content, so theres actually not a one-size-fits-all.
It really depends on your niche, your business goals and how quickly you want to reach those goals.
So heres what that could look like:
Take Business A as an example.
Lets say their goal isn’t to bring in a ton of new customers but they would like to retain their current ones and streamline their customer service process.
Lets say they wanted to accomlish this goal at a steady paced in the next 6-12 months.
For them, blogging about FAQs, tutorials, and topics surrounding understanding their niche, and or their products and services would make sense.
And posting once a week or 4x a month would make sense to gradually reach their goal overtime.
BUT let’s take Business B.
Let’s say business B’s goals are to grow their website traffic, increase their brand awareness and customer base in a short period of time.
In that case that case updating their website content more often would only make sense.
Here’s why…
the more fresh, valuable content you publish, the more chances Google has to index your site.
And the more often Google indexes your site, the faster you can grow your traffic which kind of creates a ripple effect.
Quick disclaimer love bug: it’s not just about cranking out content fast.
It comes down to quality and quantity.
Don’t skip past the art of original, effective writing. Copy-and-paste, AI-robotic scripts might look like a shortcut, but friend — they’ll backfire.
And let me say this: when it comes to AI-generated websites and blog posts, Google is cracking all the way down — and honestly, it’s a good thing.
If you want to understand this deeper, check out these two posts I’ve already written:
Lastly, should you update your old blog post?
Okay, love bug, let me put you on to one more quick strategy when it comes to updating website content: Update your old blog post.
Heres why…
Updating your old blog post does a few things.
Bonus? You can resubmit those refreshed posts to Google Search Console for re-indexing, which can help with the post ranking.
In Conclusion
