Blogging For Africa Founder Series: The Origin Behind ‘Love Bug’
Hey love bug! 💛
It’s that time again — and today, I’m super excited about this particular blog post because we’re officially starting the Founder Series! 🎉
In this series, I’m sharing the behind-the-scenes origins of Blogging for Africa — from the signature terms I use to the full vision that shaped the brand.
And what better place to start than the term you probably know best by now: Love Bug.
So… where did the use of Love Bug come from?
It’s kinda funny when I look back — because if you scroll through my very first blog posts, you’ll notice something missing: I wasn’t using Love Bug at all.
Yep, in the beginning, that signature word wasn’t even on my radar for my blog content. So if you ever wondered why I just “suddenly” started using it… it might’ve felt a little random, LOL. But the truth is — it was never random.
Let me explain👇🏽
My Online Name Has Always Had Love in It.
My name online for years has been Keesh Loves.
Keesh (by the way) is a nickname my dad gave me — and Loves is something I added on myself. I didn’t choose it for marketing, I chose it because… well, love has always been part of my DNA.
I didn’t know it at the time, but now I realize: loveis part of my actual gift.
Even before Blogging for Africa existed, I was using the term Love Tribe and Love Bug online here and there — kind of casually. So yes… this whole “love” vibe isn’t new for me. At all.
I’ve Been Saying Love Bug in Real Life for Years.
Now here’s the kicker:
Friends, family, even strangers — I’ve been calling people “love bug” in person for years.
It’s just something I naturally say, the same way some people might call others “sweetheart.” I would text things like:
“Hey love bug, what are you up to?”
“Love bug, I’m gonna call you back, okay?”
“Hey love bug, you called earlier!”
“Love bug, we should go to that new spot 👀”
No one ever told me not to say it. It was just always me. In fact, I’ve always gotten smiles and good vibes.
And the more I started writing in my more natural voice — the more it felt weird not using it.
It Just Felt Right — and It Still Does.
Blogging for Africa is built on community, love, and authenticity. Period.
That’s when I realized — I’m being real with my writing, why wouldn’t I be real with how I refer to you too?
So that’s when Love Bug officially moved from my everyday texts into my blog content.
So nope — it wasn’t a brand strategy.
Nope — it wasn’t a marketing move.
It was just me, finally letting my full voice show up.
Throwback Time: Keesh Loves, Love Tribe, and More.
I’m including a few screenshots below from my early days online — when I was already going by Keesh Loves, casually mentioning Love Tribe, and even before I officially launched Blogging for Africa.
I even created my own Love Tribe coffee mug (yep, years ago!) — just for me.
It wasn’t for a store. It wasn’t for a drop. I simply made it because It’s always been the vibe.
That simple.
Here are a few glimpses below:
And here’s another moment — back in early 2023, before even officially launching the brand using “love bug” in an IG caption.
Long before the blog ever launched, I was already online as Keesh Loves — sharing little reminders about growth, self-trust, and love.
It was just a little quiet.
anddd another one…
The whole vibe was in motion long before the brand ever launched — and again, I had no idea I’d end up using Love Bug in business. Because let’s be real…
There’s no blueprint for it.
No one was — or is — out here using Love Bug in the blogging and business niche.
This wasn’t copy-and-paste.
✨Just me✨ and it’s been that way from the start. The vibe? The “love bug”? All me — long before the blog launch or before anyone was really watching.
So that’s the heart behind it all 💛
And honestly? It’s the energy I want to surround this community forever.
And this? Just the beginning. Founder Series, Part One.
More behind the curtains origin posts are coming soon — including how Blogging for Africa came to be, what Called to Blog is really about, and why I’m currently building the Global Blogging Business Packages with the same soul and intention.
If this hit home or gave you clarity about your own brand voice — I’d love for you to share it 💛 Let’s keep the love bug energy going.
