5 Website Design Tips for Traffic and Sales Needed Like Yesterday!
So you’ve decided you want a content-driven website. But not just any website — especially not one thrown together by some cookie-cutter software neglecting EEAT standards, which Google will not overlook.
Psst… more on EEAT standards in a future blog post.
You want a website that’s unique, precisely designed on the front and backend, drives real traffic, and makes your soul tribe — your true audience — feel at home.
First of all, let me just say this:
the fact that you’re even approaching your website with that mindset?
You’re already light speed ahead⚡️
Fast, quick strategies are tempting, but they typically lead to a lack of momentum, less respect from Google, and no long-term trust with your audience.
And you know what we say around here — ain’t nobody got time for that.
So for today, we’re focused on five powerful website essentials. So grab your coffee and let’s dive in — because you don’t want to miss this.
Here are 5 Website Design Tips for Traffic and Sales Needed Like Yesterday – That Google and Your Visitors Will Love 💛
1. The Way You Structure Your Website Matters (And So Does Speed)
The way your website is structured is a big deal — for your audience and Google.
Google looks at overall performance.
A site that’s easy to navigate, well-organized, and helpful keeps visitors clicking longer — and Google rewards that with better rankings.
User experience matters.
If visitors feel lost or overwhelmed, they’ll leave (and Google notices that too).
Quick Tip: I highly recommend adding a plugin to your website called TinyPNG.
It compresses your images automatically, which keeps your site running fast. (I’ll be sharing a full post on site speed soon — stay tuned!)
2. Crystal Clear Categories and Clean URLs
When it comes to your website, one of the things you want to be sure to have is crystal clear categories and URLs.
They aren’t just labels — they’re signals for Google and your readers.
Clear categories make it easy for visitors to find what they need and encourage them to keep clicking — and love bug, Google loves that.
Clean URLs also make a big difference because they look professional, which helps Google understand your page better, and they’re easier for people to share.
Here’s an Example:
✅ Good URL:
www.yourwebsite.com/blog/website-traffic-tips
❌ Bad URL:
www.yourwebsite.com/?p=4728 (This is a default-style URL — messy, unclear, and doesn’t tell Google or your reader what the page is about.)

3. Authority Pages That Quietly Build Trust
So let’s talk about navigation for a second — too many options can hurt both your visitors and Google’s view of your site.
This one’s worth fixing because it makes a huge difference for how visitors experience your site and how Google reads it.
You only want what’s absolutely necessary in your main navigation, because:
Any other pages you feel are absolutely needed?
Link them naturally within your homepage content if possible — that’s actually great for user experience and SEO.
If not, add them to the footer instead.
A good rule of thumb? Three to five navigation options is a great start for most websites.
And here’s a stat to keep in mind: 94% of users say a site needs to be easy to navigate (source), and 38% will leave completely if it feels too complicated. (source)
The fewer decisions people have to make, the less confused they’ll be — and the more they’ll be able to effortlessly make decisions when experiencing your website.
4. Originality That Creates an Experience (Not Just Lists Features)
Here’s a little secret when it comes to your website: you don’t want to just tell people how to feel — you want to design it so they feel it for themselves.
So you want to avoid saying things like, “This is exciting” or “This will make you feel confident.”
Instead, you want to set your website up in a way so that they come to that conclusion on their own:
“Wow, this feels exciting,” or “This would make me feel confident.”
*The goal is for your website to create an actual experience.
And to pull that experience together even more, here are a few other things to keep in mind:
Colors & Fonts:
So this part is key because it sets the tone before people even read a single word.
Think about it — when you walk into a store, the colors around you are never random.
Walmart = Blue. Blue feels steady, trustworthy, and budget-friendly — exactly the vibe they want for everyday shoppers.
Target = Red. Red feels bold, exciting, and a little more “fun to splurge.”
Your website works very similar. The colors and fonts you choose quietly tell people how to feel about your brand.
Images: Only What’s Necessary
Only include images that add to the tone and are absolutely necessary. Don’t upload a photo just because it’s pretty or personally interesting to you — every image should serve the story you’re trying to tell.
Stories & Testimonials: People Should See Themselves in Your Client Wins
This one is pretty important. People should be able to look at your client wins and see themselves.
And if you’re sharing the backstory of your business, your product, or even yourself, make sure it resonates with your audience. Your story should connect back to what they care about, not just what you find interesting.
So, for example, the coffee you grabbed Tuesday evening at Starbucks? That detail would only matter if it ties directly back to the transformation or story you’re sharing.
Tone & Emojis: Small Choices, Big Impact
This right here can make a huge difference. Something as simple as the emoji you choose — or how many you use — can either be a win or a deal breaker.
Emojis shift how people feel, so be intentional.
Side note: there are some emojis I rarely use (and some I’ll never use) simply because they’re too powerful or distracting for the message I want to convey. Use them to complement your tone, not overwhelm it.
Features Inform. Experiences Sell.
Instead of saying:
“This top is made of 100% cotton. Sizes: S, M, L.”
Say something like:
“The perfect top for your next outing — soft enough to keep you comfortable all day, stylish enough to stand out in photos, and guaranteed to make you feel like the best-dressed person in the room.”
So here’s the thing: this is a little bit of an art, but it’s exactly what I do for my clients and what we teach and implement in our upcoming Global Blogging Business packages.
5. Micro-CTAs That Lead Naturally (Not Just Shout “Buy Now”)
Instead of only hard sells, guide visitors with softer steps like:
“Read This Next”
“See How It Works”
“Start Here”
These keep people clicking longer, which boosts SEO and builds trust before you ask for the sale.
