Rich & Flavorful: The Perfect Oxtail Dinner 🥘
If you love slow-cooked meat with rich bold flavors, you’re in for a treat.
Yep, I’m talking about, that underrated meat that turns into pure comfort food when cooked just right.
Whether you’ve never tried it before or you’re already a fan, I’m going to break down everything you need to know to make the perfect oxtail dinner.
So, get comfy, pour yourself a drink, and let’s dive into this absolutely flavorful dish that will win over everyone at the table, even the picky eaters!
How to make the perfect Oxtail dinner
Start by thoroughly cleaning your oxtail using water and lemon to remove any impurities. Then, trim off any excess fat that you don’t want on the meat. Once cleaned, place the oxtail in a large bowl.
Add all your chopped veggies, herbs, and seasonings to the oxtail in the bowl. Use cooking gloves to thoroughly mix everything together. Make sure the meat is well-coated with all those delicious flavors!
*Be sure to add your browning to the mix to add the rich dark coating*
Let the seasoned oxtail marinate to really lock in the flavor. Here are your options:
The longer the marination, the better the flavor payoff!
Heat a large pan over medium heat and lightly grease it with non-stick spray or a little oil. Remove the oxtails from the bowl (leaving the veggie mixture aside for now) and sear them in the pan. Cook each side for about 7 minutes until browned.
After the oxtail is browned, add your reserved veggie mix from the bowl to the pan. Stir everything together. Pour in enough beef broth (or water if you don’t have broth) to almost cover the oxtail. Stir well, then reduce the heat to medium-low.
Cover the pan with a lid and let the oxtail simmer for about 2 ½ to 3 hours, stirring occasionally. Keep an eye on the liquid level, and add more beef broth or water if it gets too low.
Super Simple Cabbage
One of my favorite dishes to pair with oxtails is cabbage.
Making the perfect cabbage is easy, quick, and incredibly satisfying. In this post, I’ll walk you through my method for cooking tender cabbage that’s full of flavor so let’s dive in.
Here are the ingredients you’ll need:
1 head of cabbage
6 oz of beef sausage.
1 small yellow onion (sliced)
6 strips of bacon I used turkey (sliced)
2 tbsp of bacon grease (or butter)
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp Slap Ya Mama Cajun Seasoning
1 tsp Old Bay Seasoning ½ tsp pepper, ground

Simple Stove Top Mac N Cheese Recipe
A fantastic side dish to complement oxtails is mac and cheese. Whether you prefer it stovetop or baked, I personally enjoy stovetop mac and cheese, so that’s what I chose for this dinner.
Making this stovetop version is quite simple. Here’s what you’ll need:
*Feel free to use any cheese you prefer*
Let it sit for a moment, and then you’re ready to enjoy your oxtail dinner.
Ok, until next time. Cheers!
