So you’re ready to grow your traffic, elevate your business, and finally start monitoring your blog and website like a pro.
And you’ve decided to use Google Analytics to get it done — smart decision, love bug!
Not only is Google Analytics completely free to use, but it’s also a thousand percent effective.
How effective, you ask? I actually have two blog posts where I break it down in full detail — you can check those out here:
But in the meantime, this post is your quick, step-by-step guide to signing up for your free Google Analytics account.
I know a lot of business owners feel super intimidated when it comes to setting up Google Analytics.
And I totally get it — if you’ve never dealt with it before, it can feel a little overwhelming.
But don’t worry — we’re doing this together.
This post is designed to remove all that confusion and walk you through the setup process hand in hand.
Once you’re in, you’ll be able to start seeing the data that actually matters — and the kind of insights that impact not just your blog, but your entire content-driven website and business.
Remember: data is power. And with tools like Google Analytics and Google Search Console, you’ll be able to understand your traffic, fine-tune your SEO, and build with real clarity — all without spending a dime.
Alright, let’s get started, love bug.
Here’s how to sign up for your free Google Analytics account:
How to Create Your Google Analytics Account (2025)
1. Go to https://analytics.google.com
2. Sign in with your Google account (or create one — it’s free!)
3. Click “Start Measuring” to begin setup
4. Add your Account Name (this is just for you — something simple like “My Blog” or your “Brand Name” works great).
5. Choose your data sharing settings (leave ‘em as-is unless you’re feeling techy)
6. Click “Next” to move to property setup
7. Enter your Property Name (basically your blog name again — nice and tidy)
8. Set your Time Zone and Currency
9. Click “Next”
10. Select your Industry Category and Business Size
11. Choose your goal with Analytics (e.g., see what content’s poppin’, track traffic, etc.)
12. Click “Create” and accept the terms
And boom 💥 just like that you’re in!
💡 Okay, love bug — here’s a quick bonus tip!
When you’re first starting your blog, you’ll probably be doing a lot of editing, proofreading, and double-checking things on your site (which is great and what you’ll want to do to make sure everything is properly functioning).
But here’s the thing: every time you visit your own blog, it counts as a view — and that can distort the early numbers with your traffic data if you don’t fix it early on.
So let’s make sure your own visits don’t get tracked.
Whether you’re browsing from your phone, editing from your desktop, or flipping through on your laptop — here’s how to exclude your IP address in Google Analytics.
Here’s how to stop Google Analytics from counting your views 💥
1. Go to your Admin Panel in Google Analytics.
2. Under the “Data Streams” section, click your website stream.
3. Select “Configure tag settings” > “Show All” > “Define internal traffic“.
4. Create a rule to define internal traffic by your IP address.u
Name your rule (e.g., “My Home WiFi or Something Like My IP 1).
Set the IP address that should be excluded.
5. Save your rule.
6. Then go to Data Settings > Data Filters and set your new internal traffic rule to “Active.“
Step 7. Activate Your Internal Traffic Filter.
Go back to your Admin Panel > click “Data Settings” > “Data Filters”.
Then locate the filter you just created (it’ll show the name you gave it like “My Home WiFi”) and make sure to set its status to “Active.”
Whoohoo all Done! 🎉 Now you’re officially in motion!
You’ve got your Google Analytics set up the right way, you know how to block your own views, and your blog is one step closer to growing like clockwork.
Remember: the goal isn’t just to track numbers — it’s to build momentum with the numbers.
Recommendation: Check in weekly or monthly using your browser or using the Google Analytics App, keep learning what’s working, and don’t forget to celebrate even the smallest growth.
Because … small steps, big future.
You got this and you know I’m cheering for you always 🥂
