Blogging Vs. Social Media Which One Is Better For Your Business?
So you have this amazing business idea that you want to launch however you’re looking for the perfect marketing strategy.
You want a marketing strategy that fits your personality, builds rapport, and of course, sells more products and services for your business.
So with your laptop out and coffee in hand you decide to see what others in your niche are doing and the two most popular marketing strategies you probably found are blogging and social media marketing.
But which one should you choose?
Great question!
In this blog post, we will be discussing blogging vs. social media for business and provide insights on how you can leverage both for maximum impact.
So, let’s first discuss what blogging is.
Blogging is the act of creating content in the format of text, photography and or video from your website or on other outside platforms like Linked-In articles ext. Blogging helps individuals, businesses and organizations share information, ideas, thoughts and knowledge with a wider audience.
Blogging can be used to build a community of followers, share knowledge, and help humanize your brand.
Here are a few benefits of blogging.
1. You own the content posted on your blog.
As much as we all may love social media the truth is we don’t own those platforms.
I know bummer right.
However, this means as content creators we can spend years creating content on social media and in the blink of an eye the platform can change, become unpopular or disappear, and all your hard work is gone.
Although there are people making millions of dollars on social media platforms I like to think of building a business solely on social media like spending 1000’s of dollars remodeling a rental property.
Though you may spend thousands of dollars remodeling the property the full rights and ownership belong to the landlord.
If the landlord agrees that you can remodel the property to your liking to fit closer to what you want that’s great but the downside is that the terms of the lease are still in the control of the property owner which can change or be terminated.
and this my friend is social media.
Though you can dress up your pages, gain thousands of followers, and spend lots of money and time making awesome content the ultimate owner of that content is the platform itself.
On the other hand with your blog, you own it, you control it and you determine the rules regarding what can be posted.
With blogging you would be considered the homeowner with full ownership and with social media you are considered a tenant with no ownership and little control.
2. Creating content from your website is the future.
Social media will always be around but with technology advancements happening rapidly creating websites will become more simplistic. With simplifying the process I strongly believe having a website is a concept that the everyday person, content creators, and business owners will eventually embrace togther. Blogging won’t just be seen as a place for business owners and serious conversations but for anyone to share life updates, personal interest ext.
Being ahead of this trend can be a game changer for your business.
3. Bring Your Audience Closer.
Creating content from your website offers a deeper level of intimacy and allows you to push your brand beyond social media constraints and make a complete world where your message, value, and business are the central focus.
Achieving this closer bond with your audience utilizing blogging does not have to be difficult.
Something as simply placing the photos you post on your social media with your follow-up thoughts to your blog can help accomplish a more intimate effect vs. just utilizing social media.
Yes. Social media can also create a place where rapport can be built but it’s also like being at a party with someone vs. being invited to someones home. Social medias the party which is nice your blog and email list is your home.
4. Create a more holistic view for your brand and your business.
With your blog, you are able to have one centralized place where your audience can learn more about who you are, your brand and your overall business. Instead of having all of this information scattered throughout your social media account thus making it all harder to understand and find.
With your blog it’s a place offering everything your business offers in one place including consistent content. Thus making the overall sales process smoother.
5. Blogging is perfect for showcasing your expertise.
Blogging helps create an in-depth conversation around a topic to showcase your expertise in the form of text, video, podcasting, and or photography a blog will be the best route to go because you have less limitations to do so.
Most social media platforms your limited by:
– How many characters via text, photos and videos you can utilize per post.
– The length of the video your able to post without
having to upgrade to a paid subscription.
– The type of content your able to post.
With your blog you don’t have to worry about any of this.
As long as your blog is not displaying illegal crime (important to know)
you should be good to go.
6. Blogging is perfect for lasting content.
Imagine creating one piece of content that consistently drives traffic, builds your email list and product sales for your business years from now.
Well, that’s what blogging does.
With blogging, you’re able to craft your content in a way that is SEO (search engine optimization) friendly to drive consistent blog traffic on autopilot.
Research shows the lifespan of a blog post ranges from 2 years or more which can lead to a high return on investment for bloggers. While social media content usually expires within a few minutes to 48 hours.
So not only is blogging free to a minimum of $15 or so a month to do it has a high return on invement espcially when blogging correctly.

Blogging is perfect for getting found on search engines.
With 8.5 billion searches per day, or 2 trillion searches annually utilizing Google search engines, you can rest assured that your target audience are actively looking for answers, products and services that you can provide.
Yes, you can simply have a website without a blog however, the odds of your business getting seen by your audience are slim compared to being able to have multiple pieces of content being found on search engines via search engine optimization.
The more blog posts that you have the more consistent blog traffic you’re able to receive on autopilot for your business. Static websites can not captialize on the full benefits of search engine optimization because it has limited content updates and limited keyword results.
Regarding social media post and search engine optimization unfortunately aside from Linked-In articles the post actually being seen via search engine is almost none existent.
However, others sharing your blog post to their social media accounts can help boose your SEO and Google search rankings.

Now let’s discuss Social Media Marketing For Business
So what is What is social media? Social media is a digital technology that allows people to create, share, and exchange information and ideas in virtual communities and networks. It’s a way to connect with audiences, build relationships, and have conversations.
Social media platforms often feature user-generated content that encourages engagement through likes, shares, comments, and discussion.
What makes social media so powerful in today’s world?
Social media connects you with people across the globe in an instant. It transforms the way you communicate, opening doors to conversations that span continents.
With social media your able to connect, share, and engage through a simple post or message.
Social media allows you to showcase your creativity, opinions, and experiences. From viral videos to heartfelt posts, your content has the power to inspire, connect and influence.
The benefits of social media for business owners.
1. Social media is free to get started.
One of the best benefits of social media for business owners is that you can get started for free and you can utilize free content strategies like consistent posting, direct messaging, and engaging with others to grow your audience, build rapport, and sell more products and services.
How fast you grow and how much work it takes depends on the social media platform you choose.
For instance, the effort it takes to get views from TikTok vs. Instagram reels when first starting out may differ in this case TikTok seems to allow users to receive views and followers more effortlessly.
2. Short-form content.
Have a great one liner that you want to share to get your point across? Well, social media is the best place to post it.
With social media, you can post short content in the form of tips and thoughts directly from your cell phone without needing everything to be perfect.
Unlike blogging you don’t need to elaborate much and your grammar and punctuation are certainly not as important. Unless your on a social media platform like LinkedIn where you would want to make extra sure your grammar and punctuation is correct.
3. Social media is fast-paced and interactive.
Most people are using their social media from their mobile devices and usually have it set up to receive notifications instantly. This allow your audience to interact with your brand quickly and directly from their phone in some cases like a text message format.
This is great if you want to have an avenue to connect with your audience in a quick personable way.
4. Network and support others content.
A great feature of social media is that with a simple like and even better a thoughtful comment, you can quickly let others know within your space that you see, enjoy, and support their content thus building rapport with your audience, peers, and potential clients over time.
With blogging the networking strategy changes a bit to including others blog links in your content and letting them know, commenting on others blogs within your niche, joining a Tailwind tribe and sharing others content on your Pinterest boards and the list goes on and on.
But with social media the process of of supporting someones content and them seeing it can be instant with a simple like or thoughtful comment which will probably be seen via notification from their mobile device instantly.
So now we’ve discussed Blogging Vs. Social Media For Business and how each
can work as a marketing strategy for your business. Which one should you choose?
So I would recommend considering a holistic approach for your marketing strategies and utilizing both. However, you want to choose which one will be your primary content strategy which will determine how much time you spend on each.
Implementing blogging for business in some capacity just makes sense because having a content strategy that you own, has a longer lifespan and drives traffic, list building and more sales on autopilot just make sense as for business.
However, choosing a minimum one social media platform that you can actively engage on can be helpful as well for networking and staying up to date with your audience in real-time.
Though you can syndicate content out on all platforms utilizing software like HootSuite.
Choosing one platform that you are actively participating on along side your blog can be massively effective.
Which social media platform you choose of course will vary based on your niche, the type of content you feel you can be consistent with, and the social media platform your audience is engaging on.
